Charities close to their hearts

The King has long championed the environment, architecture and young people, notably through the Prince's Trust, now known as the King's Trust. Queen Camilla is closely linked to literacy projects and to charities supporting survivors of domestic abuse. Both regularly meet volunteers and community groups across the country.

State visits and Christmas

State visits remain an important part of the job, strengthening ties with other countries and Commonwealth nations. In December, the family traditionally gathers at Sandringham in Norfolk. On Christmas Day, millions of viewers tune in to the King's Christmas broadcast.
